The Jekyll Island Company, LLC has announced three new board members have joined the organization.
Georgia Music Hall of Fame keyboardist Chuck Leavell, College of Charleston President P. George Benson and Anne O. Faulk, chairman and CEO of Swingvote, LLC have agreed to serve on the development
organization’s board. The Jekyll Island Company is organized to compete for the opportunity to redevelop
state-owned Jekyll Island.
Chuck Leavell not only has been pleasing the ears of music fans for more than 30 years, his strong environmental
activities led The New York Times to call him “a man who can see the forest for the trees and helps
nurture it.”
His piano and keyboard work is found on the works of Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, The Black Crowes, George Harrison, the Allman Brothers Band, Indigo Girls, Blues Traveler, and others. Over the past 22
years, Chuck has been a member of the Rolling Stones and is currently on a summer tour with them in
Europe. In 2001, Leavell published Forever Green: The History and Hope of the American Forest. Using his
Charlane Plantation as inspiration, the book touches on the history of the American forests, types of forests,
the idea of urban forests, and the direction of conservation.

Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, President Benson received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Bucknell
